Former Italian international Alberto Polo will be a teammate of Bulgarian internationals Aleksandar Nikolov and Simeon Nikolov at Cucine Lube Civitanova during the 2026/2027 season. The experienced middle blocker joins one of Italy's leading clubs after two seasons at Sonepar Padova, where he played alongside Bulgarian international Boris Nachev and shared the middle blocker position with him.
The 202-centimeter tall volleyball player from Bassano del Grappa returns to the Marche region, where he has already made an excellent impression with Potenza Picena during the 2014/2015 season. At that time, he played a key role in winning the Serie A2 playoffs and securing promotion to the elite league, also earning the "Badiali" award for best player under 23 years old.
During the 2025/2026 season, he recorded 31 successful blocks and finished among the top ten performers in this element in the Italian SuperLega.
On the international stage, Polo has a bronze medal from the 2015 U23 World Championship, participated with the Italian men's national team at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, and won a title at the 2019 Universiade, where he was recognized as the best blocker of the tournament.
With his transfer to Civitanova, Polo replaces his role as Boris Nachev's teammate in Padova with a new Bulgarian presence around him – that of brothers Aleksandar and Simeon Nikolov, who are among the main figures in Lube's ambitious project for the upcoming season.
