Heavy blow for Turkey: Ebrar Karakurt out indefinitely

The Turkish women's national team received unpleasant news in the midst of the Nations League tournament. One of the most important figures in Daniele Santarelli's squad – Ebrar Karakurt – will be out for the next few weeks due to a health problem. Media in our southern neighbor are reporting this.
Following a series of medical examinations and additional tests, the medical team of the Turkish national team has recommended a recovery period of four to six weeks. The diagnosis is related to problems in the pelvic area and lower back, which have been bothering the opposite hitter for some time.
This practically means that Karakurt will not be able to help her team in the remaining matches of this year's Nations League. Even more concerning for the Turkish staff is that the recovery time also calls into question her readiness for the European Championship, which starts on August 21.
The absence of the 26-year-old attacker is a serious blow to Turkey's ambitions. In recent years, Karakurt has established herself as one of the faces of the national team and is consistently among the team's main scorers. Her attacking power and emotional presence on the court often prove decisive in the most important matches.
For Santarelli, the upcoming weeks will also be a test of the squad's depth. Turkey has quality alternatives, but replacing a player with Karakurt's influence is far from an easy task.
The Turkish Volleyball Federation is expected to provide more information in the coming days regarding the star's condition and the potential timeline for her return to play. For now, however, it seems certain that one of the brightest figures in world women's volleyball will miss a key part of the international season.
