Italy recorded its first success in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League after defeating Germany 3:1 (25:20, 20:25, 25:21, 33:31) in Ottawa. After a dramatic loss to France in the first match, Ferdinando De Giorgi's young team reacted with a valuable victory and earned their first three points in the standings.
The top scorer for the "Azzurri" was Alessandro Bovolenta with 17 points, while Tobias Brand scored 17 points for Germany.
Italy dominated in attack with 60 successful spikes against 51 for their opponent, also adding 8 blocks against 7 for the Germans. The fourth set proved decisive, in which the Germans practically missed several opportunities to force a tie-break, and the Italians closed out the match with a 33:31 score.
After a day of rest, Italy will face Turkey in their next match of the tournament.
