The biggest sports newspaper in Italy, "La Gazzetta dello Sport," today discusses the volleyball transfer market, specifically the topic of the coaching position at Itas Trentino for the 2025/26 season. The topic is also noted on Italy's most authoritative volleyball website, volleyball.it. The lack of confirmation to date regarding coach Fabio Soli's stay for next season gives rise to many speculations about the future of this position. "La Gazzetta dello Sport" reports on two of the most widespread rumors in recent weeks.
The first concerns an inquiry by the current European club champion to attract the coach of the Bulgarian national team and former coach of the "Azzurri," Gianlorenzo Blengini, who, however, has an exclusive contract with the Bulgarian federation, unless he and the president of the BFV, Ganev, reconsider the agreement.
The other persistent rumor, which is being discussed in SuperLega circles as possibly already having an agreement, is related to the recruitment ofMarcelo Mendez– an Argentine specialist who has been leading Polish Jastrzębski Węgiel for two years. He has never worked as a coach in Italy, although he spent two seasons there in the past. This morning, the club from Trento tried to stop the increasingly persistent rumors with a press release, emphatically refuting the news. However, Polish colleagues confirm that they are aware of contact made between the coach and the management of the Trento club regarding their future. Mendez also has offers from Japan.
