Bulgarian outside hitter Todor Valchev, who played last season for Lokomotiv Avia, will continue his career in the Greek championship. Valchev will wear the jersey of Aris (Thessaloniki) next season. Thus, the experienced volleyball player could reunite in one team with former national team player Boyan Yordanov, if the latter decides to continue playing. The legendary left-hander hinted after the end of the championship in our southern neighbor that this would likely be his last season.
Aris returned to the Greek Volleyball League after a 10-year absence, with Yordanov playing a key role in the promotion of the 'yellow-blacks' to the elite.
For Valchev, this will be another challenge in his rich international career. The outside hitter has experience in France, Italy, Turkey, Iran, Tunisia, and Russia, and in Bulgaria, he has played for Marek Union-Ivkoni, Montana, Lokomotiv (Plovdiv), Dea Sport, Hebar, CSKA, and Lokomotiv Avia.
In the last two seasons, Valchev was part of Lokomotiv Avia, and before that, he wore the jerseys of CSKA and Hebar. With his recruitment, Aris adds a serious dose of reception experience and stability in attack - two elements that will be key for the team upon its return among the best in Greece.
The potential reunion of Todor Valchev and Boyan Yordanov in Thessaloniki would form a strong Bulgarian tandem in the Aris squad for the new season. It remains to be seen.
