The former head coach of Bulgarian champion Maritsa (Plovdiv), Ahmetcan Erşimşek, will continue his career in the Turkish Sultans League, having been officially presented as the new coach of Zeren Spor.
The news confirms reports that emerged back in March, and now the Ankara club has officially announced the appointment of the Turkish specialist for the 2026/27 season.
Erşimşek worked at Maritsa for the past two seasons, taking over the Plovdiv team before the 2024/25 campaign. Prior to that, he built a strong reputation as a long-time assistant to the legendary Giovanni Guidetti at VakıfBank, where he spent eight seasons between 2016 and 2024.
In parallel with his club work, the Turkish specialist gained international experience at the national level. He was part of the staffs of the national teams of Turkey, Serbia, and Canada, and this year he also joined the staff of the Netherlands women's national team.
The appointment at Zeren Spor is the next important step in Erşimşek's career. The club is among the ambitious projects in the Turkish elite and continues to invest heavily in its development, and attracting a specialist with experience from VakıfBank, national teams, and the Bulgarian champion is part of this strategy.
