The Serbian women's national team started its participation in the 2026 Nations League in excellent fashion. The squad, led by Zoran Terzic, defeated Thailand with3:0 (26:24, 25:22, 25:19)in a match from the first round of the tournament in Nanjing (China).
After a difficult start to the previous edition of the competition, when the Serbians recorded a series of eight consecutive losses, this time the team showed a much more stable performance and began the campaign with a valuable victory.

Serbia also outperformed their opponent in attack (46:38), which compensated for their higher number of own errors. It was precisely the dominance at the net that proved crucial for the final success.

Thailand traditionally showed good defensive play and finished with more digs in defense (59:50). Reception and game organization were almost even, which indicates that the difference did not come from first-touch control, but mainly from attack and block efficiency.

Top scorers

Four Serbian volleyball players finished with double-digit points, which indicates excellent attack distribution. Aleksandra Uzelac was the top scorer with 17 points, while Anja Zubic, Hena Kurtagic, and Maja Aleksic also made significant contributions. It was precisely the variety in attack that maximally challenged Thailand's defense.

Serbia's next match is against Poland, and it will be played on Friday.
