Autopancotti Vero Volley Monza won the 33rd edition of the Del Monte ® Junior League – "Massimo Serenelli Trophy". Mauro Giuseppe Marchetti's team defeated Itas Trentino 3:1 in the final in Ozzano dell'Emilia and defended their title from last year.
The big hero for Monza was Jasmin Velichkov's teammate in the men's team – Diego Frasho. He was chosen as the MVP of the final after finishing with 28 points, including 6 aces.
Monza took a 2:0 lead in games, Trento brought back the intrigue, but in the fourth game, the team from Brianza achieved success after a decisive attack by Alessandro Piva.
For the winners, Umberto Caporossi added 15 points. For Itas Trentino, the most effective scorers were Davide Boschini and Marco Fedrici with 14 points each.
"The big difference is that we are a team both on and off the court. We have been playing together for a long time, and that helped us in difficult moments. For some of us, this was our last participation in the junior category, and we gave it our all," stated Frasho after the final.
For Monza, this is their second consecutive and third overall title in the tournament.
