Alex Nikolov's former teammate at Lube Civitanova, Porya Hossein Khanzadeh, will play in the Italian SuperLega again. The Iranian outside hitter will continue his career at Cuneo, who officially announced his signing for the 2026/2027 season.
The 22-year-old volleyball player parted ways with Lube after a turbulent end to his stay at the club, but now gets a new chance in one of the strongest leagues in the world. Last season, Khanzadeh played outside Italy and reached the final of the Asian Champions League, where he won the award for best server. There he once again partnered with the Bulgarian national player.
"Porya is a player with excellent offensive qualities, especially in serving and attacking. We see serious development in his game and we believe he will help the team a lot," stated Cuneo's sports director, Paolo Bruggiafreddo.
Khanzadeh himself also did not hide his enthusiasm about returning to Italy:
"The SuperLega is one of the best leagues in the world. I want to help the team, the club, and make the fans happy. I had very good discussions with the coach and management and I believe we can have a strong season."
Khanzadeh will begin a new chapter in his career during Cuneo's second consecutive season in the Italian elite.
