Italy started the season with a convincing 3:0 victory over Turkey (25:20, 25:17, 25:13) in the first friendly match between the two teams, played in Val di Fiemme. The "Azzurri" had a slight hesitation at the start of the first set, but then imposed complete superiority, and in the second and third sets, they dominated decisively.
For Italy, Paolo Porro, Luca Porro, Bottolo, Rychlicki, Matti, Sanguinetti, Laurenzano, Bovolenta, Boninfante, Orioli, Gargiulo, and Pace took part. The top scorer for the hosts was captain Mattia Bottolo with 9 points, while Kamil Rychlicki and Luca Porro added 7 points each. For Turkey, Kurtuluş scored the most with 8 points, and Mirja Lagumdzija finished with 7 points.
After the victory over Turkey, the Italian national team will continue its preparation with a friendly match against Belgium on May 30 in Verona. Before that, on May 29, a friendly match between Belgium and Turkey is also scheduled in Cavalese.
