Milan is making a serious selection, also following Georgi Tatarov

Italian giant Allianz Milano has begun a serious squad overhaul for the 2026/2027 season after parting ways with their main scorer Ferre Reggers, who moved to Perugia. The club has already announced three new signings — the legendary Cuban middle blocker Robertlandy Simon, Belgian opposite Basil Dermaux, and outside hitter Seppe Rotty. Milano also officially has a new head coach. Following the end of the Roberto Piazza era, who led the team for seven seasons, Spaniard Guillermo Falasca takes the helm at Allianz Milano.
The squad selection clearly demonstrates Milano's ambitions to remain among the leading teams in the Italian Superlega, and in parallel, the club continues to seek options for strengthening, particularly for the outside hitter position.
Among the names being discussed is Bulgarian national team player Georgi Tatarov. The outside hitter already has significant experience in Serie A, having played two seasons for Grottazzolina, which, however, was relegated from the top flight. At the end of last season, Tatarov also played for Turkish Galatasaray and is currently actively seeking a new team.
This is not the first time Milano has shown interest in Bulgarian national team players. As early as the middle of the 2025/26 season, the club had made offers for Martin Atanasov, but he preferred to remain in Monza at the time.
According to information from Italy, contacts between Milano and Georgi Tatarov have already begun, although his move to the club from the Lombardy region has not yet been officially confirmed. If the transfer becomes a reality, the number of Bulgarians in Italy's top flight will reach five, following the moves of Moni Nikolov to his brother Alex at Lube and Iliya Petkov to Monza, where Yasmin Velichkov will also play for a second season. This could set up a "Bulgarian" derby in the Lombardy region.
