Middle blocker Ivaylo Damyanov will most likely not be part of Bulgaria's squad for the first week of the Volleyball Nations League in Brazil.
The middle blocker did not take part in the first training camp in Samokov, nor in the friendly 'Silesia Cup' tournament in Poland. In the matches in Sosnowiec and Katowice, head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini relied on Iliya Petkov, Preslav Petkov, and Boris Nachev as middle blockers.
Today, Alex Grozdanov, Aleksandar Nikolov, and Simeon Nikolov join the national team's second camp. It is expected that the players who participated in the 'Silesia Cup', along with the three newcomers, will form the main squad for the first VNL tournament in Brazil. As of today, Damyanov is not among the volleyball players participating in the training at the 'SamElion' complex. We remind that the middle blocker of 'Lokomotiv Avia' was absent from training in early May due to personal reasons. The other middle blocker included in the extended squad of 30 players, Lazar Buchkov, is injured.
Three players are expected to be cut from the group of 17 volleyball players before the team's departure for friendly matches in Argentina next week.
