Ninety-nine days and fifteen matches after the beginning of their joint adventure, Earvin Ngapeth and Poitiers part ways with a bang. By will of the calendar, the last match played this season by the French volleyball star with his hometown's team and number 86 on his back will remain the derby against Tours - the club where he debuted in the professional league. Even in the first days of the two-time Olympic champion's stay in his hometown, tickets for his last match were sold out. There wasn't a single empty seat in the Arena Futuroscope, which holds 5000 spectators.
As if by script, the farewell match lasted five sets, to the delight of the thousands in the stands who came to see their idol one last time.

The dry figures show a 3:2 (25:22, 17:25, 30:28, 14:25, 15:10) victory for the hosts in a derby match that lasted 136 minutes. Ngapeth finished with the most points - 22 (1 ace, 2 blocks). With this last victory for the year, Poitiers sends off 2024 in fourth place in the table, before the remaining 5 matches of the 15th round of the Marmara SpikeLigue are played.
From the new year, Earvin Ngapeth will don the jersey of Turkish Fenerbahçe, where Denis Karyagin plays.
