Mikaela Stoyanova remains in Serie A1 - signed with Macerata

As we predicted back on May 18, Macerata turned out to be the next destination in the career of Bulgarian international Mikaela Stoyanova.
The 20-year-old opposite hitter officially signed with the newcomer to the Italian elite, CBF Balducci HR Macerata, after parting ways with her previous club, Megabox Vallefoglia.

Last season, Stoyanova received limited opportunities to play, recording 29 matches and 22 points, and her desire for more playing time was the main reason for the change.
Despite her smaller role at Vallefoglia, the Bulgarian won a European trophy after the team triumphed in the Challenge Cup tournament.
Stoyanova already has significant international experience despite her young age. She is part of the Bulgarian women's national team and participated in the 2025 World Championship, as well as in the Nations League editions from 2023 onwards. Before her transfer to Italy, the volleyball player went through the academy and the first team of Levski Sofia, where she also played in European club tournaments.
The Bulgarian's new club will debut in Serie A1 next season and is banking on youth and development. Macerata describes Stoyanova as a player who will bring "power and enthusiasm" to head coach Valerio Lionetti's squad.
"I chose Macerata because I believe it's the ideal place for development. From the very first moment, the club gave me a very positive feeling. I can't wait to get to know the team, experience the atmosphere in Macerata, and start this new chapter in my career," Stoyanova stated after signing the contract.
"I expect a lot of hard work, new experiences, and important moments to share as a team. I want to develop as much as possible, help the club achieve its goals, and enjoy every step of this journey," added the Bulgarian international.
After her time at Vallefoglia, where she gained valuable experience in one of the strongest leagues in the world, Mikaela Stoyanova will have the opportunity for a more significant role in her new team. Expectations are that she will be one of Macerata's main scorers in the club's debut season in the Italian elite.
