Levski Sofia's women's team has begun its summer recruitment with the signing of Dominican volleyball player Joanna Montero Alcantara. She will strengthen 'the Blues' in the opposite hitter position for the new season and is expected to bring more power and variability to Dragan Nesic's team's attack.
The transfer comes at a crucial moment for the capital club, which, after winning silver medals last season, is clearly looking for the next step towards the top in the women's championship. The opposite hitter position was precisely one of the areas where 'Levski' needed greater depth and consistency, and Serbian specialist Dragan Nesic sees serious potential in the new addition.
'Joanna will be an important player for us; she possesses good physical qualities. Her technical skills at this moment could raise the level of our team,' stated the coach of 'the Blues'.
The club is clearly banking not only on the Dominican's physique but also on her competitive profile – an aggressive attacking style and energy that will help the team in tough matches throughout the season.
Joanna Montero Alcantara herself also expressed her enthusiasm for the new challenge in Europe.
'I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Levski Sofia. I can't wait to meet the team, the fans, and give my best this season!' shared the new addition.
In recent years, 'Levski' has gradually built a more competitive squad and has increasingly confidently joined the battle for honors. Now, the club clearly shows that they do not intend to take a step back. The first incoming transfer suggests that the recruitment will be aimed at more power in crucial moments and more serious internal competition within the squad.
Expectations are for Joanna Montero Alcantara to join the team's training at the start of the preseason period, when 'the Blues' will begin building the squad for the new season.
