Swiss Volley Schönenwerd officially parted ways with head coach Atanas Petrov and his assistant Matteo Pazienza after the end of the season. Under the leadership of the Bulgarian specialist, the team won the Swiss Supercup and finished third in the local championship.
The club thanked both coaches for their work, passion, and contribution to the successful season.
The new head coach of Volley Schönenwerd will be Romanian specialist Cristian Cîtĭgoi. The 48-year-old coach arrives with extensive international experience, having worked in Romania, Greece, and the Czech Republic. Most recently, Cîtĭgoi led Czech club VK TROX Příbram, and has also served as a selector for the Romanian national teams U19 and U21.
An interesting fact is that Volley Schönenwerd's new coach is the husband of former Bulgarian national player Radostina Rangelova-Cîtĭgoi, who was a part of the Bulgarian women's team for many years and is a well-known name in Bulgarian volleyball.
