Zenit Saint Petersburg defeated Belogorie 3:2 (25:23, 25:22, 20:25, 21:25, 15:11) in a Group A match of the 'Final Six' for the Russian Cup and secured a spot in the semifinals.
Vladimir Alekno's team took a 2:0 lead in sets after strong attacking and stable play in key moments, but Belogorie equalized after a better performance in the third and fourth sets. In the tie-break, the Belogorie players started better, but attacking errors and two consecutive blocks by Zenit decided the match.
The top scorers for Zenit were Vladislav Babkevich with 23 points and Stanislav Dineikin with 17, while Mohammed Al Hachdadi scored 24 points for Belogorie.
After their second defeat, Belogorie was eliminated from the tournament, while Zenit St. Petersburg and Dinamo Moscow will determine the group winner on May 14.
