Bulgarian refereeing continues to solidify its significant presence at the highest level in volleyball. The European Confederation CEV has included Konstantin Yovchev among the referees for the Men's Champions League Final Four, which will take place in Turin on May 16 and 17.
It has not yet been announced which matches the Bulgarian referee will officiate. In the semi-finals, Projekt (Warsaw) and Perugia will face each other, as will Warta (Poland) against Turkey's Ziraat Bank.
Thus, Bulgarian referees once again receive trust for the most prestigious matches in European club volleyball. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, our country has consistently had representatives among the referees of the Champions League final tournaments.
Last season, Ivaylo Ivanov officiated the men's final, having previously been among the referees with the most appointments at the Olympic Games in Paris. As early as 2022, he also received an appointment for the women's final in the tournament.
Dobromir Dobrev initiated this strong streak by officiating the women's final in the Champions League in 2021.
