Italian specialist Massimo Botti, who is a former coach of Bulgarian international Alex Grozdanov at Bogdanka, will most likely not continue his work at the helm of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. Let's recall that under his leadership, the team from Lublin became champion in 2025 and won the Challenge Cup, defeating Lube Civitanova in the final.
The Polish giant once again failed to meet high expectations before the season, despite a serious selection of names like Karol Butryn, Marcin Janusz, and Artur Szalpuk. Resovia finished only 4th in the PlusLiga, lost the Polish Cup final, and did not reach the Champions League Final Four.
According to information from journalist Jakub Balcerzak on the X platform, the poor results will almost certainly lead to a parting of ways with both Massimo Botti and his assistant Alfredo Martilotti.
The most painful blows for the club came in 2026. First, Resovia decisively lost the Polish Cup final to BOGDANKA LUK Lublin, then was eliminated in the Champions League quarterfinals after two 0:3 defeats to Ziraat Bank Ankara, and finally was left without a medal in the PlusLiga. In the bronze medal match, the team from Rzeszów lost 1-3 in matches against PGE Project Warsaw.
The only consolation for Resovia is qualifying for the CEV Cup tournament next season.
The changes at Resovia are expected to extend beyond the coaching staff. Lukas Vashina has already left the club, and among the anticipated departures is that of American libero Erik Shoji.
Again, according to Balcerzak, Serbia's coach, Đorđe Krecu, is expected to take over the club.
There is no official confirmation from Asseco Resovia yet, but everything indicates that the Italian duo Botti – Martilotti is close to parting ways with the club from Rzeszów.
