The 30-year-old receiver for Italian Piacenza, Stephen Maar, announced the end of his career with the Canadian national team. "It's been an incredible 12-year experience being part of the downfall and rise of our national team. I'm proud of what we've been able to achieve, especially in the last three years. I've seen how unity and belief in each other can be an incredible force. I plan to focus on other projects aimed at developing volleyball in Canada," Stephen wrote on social media. Maar won a bronze medal with the Maple Leafs in the 2017 World League and participated in two Olympics (2020, 2024). At club level, Maar has played in Italy since 2016, with a break during the 2019/20 season when he competed for Dynamo Moscow.
