After resolving the dispute over the contract duration (Fenerbahçe offered a contract until the end of the current season, while the player wanted an agreement for the next one as well, 2025/26), Earvin Ngapeth, MVP of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will wear the Fenerbahçe Medicana jersey starting in January. The two-time Olympic champion signed an 18-month contract with the Turkish club, which local media reports claim exceeds one million euros, but in fact, the agreement is closer to 500/600 thousand euros net total for both seasons. Ngapeth is currently playing for Poitiers, who are third in the French League A standings. He will join Fenerbahçe, who are currently eighth in the Efeler League, in January, after a farewell match scheduled for December 27. The Istanbul club hopes that Ngapeth's arrival will reverse the poor run of results coinciding with the appointment of Serbian coach Slobodan Kovač. The two have already worked successfully together at Halkbank, where they won both the Turkish championship and the national cup in the 2023/24 season.
