Zaverche defeated champion Bogdanka at the start of the final playoff

Zawiercie made a powerful claim for the title after crushing the reigning champion Bogdanka LUK Lublin 3:0 (25:19, 25:19, 25:14) in the first match of the final series and took a 1:0 lead.
Already in the first set, the hosts showed they would dictate the tempo. Although the visitors took a 4:2 lead, Zawiercie quickly seized the initiative, starting to dominate at the net with blocks and middle attacks. The serve also became a key weapon Russell, Leon, and Bieniek put pressure with their serves, and the hosts' block made the difference for 25:19 after a successful play by Yuriy Gladyr.
In the second set, Bogdanka started strong and took a 4:1 lead after a run by Heno, but Zawiercie's block once again turned the tide of events. An ace by Russell tied the score at 8:8, and then the hosts took control. Bieniek was solid through the middle, and despite a brief comeback attempt after a counter-attack by Malinowski, Zawiercie closed the set at 25:21 after another strong serve.
The third set turned into a true demonstration of superiority. After an even start (4:4), a series of serves and blocks from Russell and his teammates led to a quick 9:4 lead. Bogdanka's reception problems deepened, completely disrupting their attack organization. A true "festival of aces" followed, in which Kwolek and Gladyr participated, and the lead grew to 19:8. Until the end, the hosts left no doubt and closed the match decisively.
Aaron Russell was outstanding, scoring 20 points, including an impressive 6 aces, 2 blocks, and 47% attacking efficiency. He received solid support from Bartosz Boladz, who added 11 points.
For the champions from Bogdanka, it was a difficult day. Wilfredo Leon finished with 14 points, but was blocked 4 times and had only 19% attacking efficiency. The main problem came from reception only 30% positive, which severely limited the setter's options. The team's middle blockers were out of the game, and national team captain Alex Grozdanov contributed a modest 3 points, 1 block, and 40% attacking efficiency.

The numbers speak for themselves Zawiercie dominated primarily through serving and blocking. The difference of 7 aces and 7 blocks is indicative of the control the hosts exerted over the match. Bogdanka's poor reception further eased the opponent's task and took key attackers out of the game.

Zawiercie took a 1:0 lead in the final series. The second match is in Lublin on April 29 at 18:30, where the champions will be looking for a crucial response.
