The volleyball players of "Dunav" (Ruse) achieved their second victory since the start of the season in WINBET Super Volley, after defeating "Pirin" (Razlog) with 3:1 (25:21, 22:25, 25:23, 25:19) as guests in a match from the fourth round of the championship.
The team led by Yordan Bosev showed serious superiority in attack and blocking, deservedly reaching success after 103 minutes of play in the "Septemvri" hall.
After the home victory over "Beroe" and the defeat by "Metalurg" in Pernik, the Ruse team once again found their way to success, recording their first away victory.
The guests started the match confidently and built a solid lead in the very first game. "Dunav" led 16:10 and 21:13, before closing the set at 25:21.
In the second game, "Pirin" managed to put up a more successful resistance. The hosts took a 21:20 lead in the final phase and equalized the score after 25:22.
The third set offered the most contested battle. The Ruse team again took the lead, but "Pirin" did not give up and reduced their deficit to 23:24. Nevertheless, the guests snatched the set with 25:23.
In the fourth game, "Dunav" imposed its will, increasing the lead from 16:14 to 21:17 and finishing the match at 25:19.
Three "Dunav" volleyball players with double-digit scores
Carlos Larrea was the top scorer for the winners with 22 points. He made 19 successful attacks out of 35 attempts (54%), added 2 blocks and 1 ace.
Polish opposite Kacper Wnuk also played a strong match, finishing with 21 points. He made 20 out of 35 attacks (57%) and added one ace.
Georgi Antov contributed 15 points, including 3 blocks and 1 ace. Vladimir Hristov finished with 8 points, and Lyubcho Yankov added 7.
For "Pirin", Dimitar Dulchev was the top scorer with 15 points, followed by Ivan Tasev with 14. Kostadin Gadzhanov finished with 6 points.
Attack and block decided the match
Statistics show a clear superiority of "Dunav" in two of the main components of the game.
The Ruse team scored 62 points from attack against only 41 for the opponent, with their success rate reaching 51% against 40% for "Pirin".
The advantage in blocking was also double - 10 against 5 points. On serve, the hosts had 3 aces against 4 for the guests.
The performance of "Dunav" in the third game was particularly impressive, when the Ruse team scored 20 points from attack with a 59% success rate. This part proved to be decisive for the outcome of the match.
In the fourth game, the guests added 5 more successful blocks and finally broke "Pirin's" resistance.
The victory confirmed the impression that "Dunav" has an offensive potential that can allow them to be competitive in their away games throughout the season.
