Fano, with Stoil Palev and Denis Karyagin, lost as a guest to Grottazzolina with a score of 1:3 (17:25, 21:25, 25:18, 19:25) in the second round of the Italian Serie A2. The Marche region derby was played on October 25th at "PalaSavelli" in Porto San Giorgio in front of 720 spectators.
The two Bulgarians started as regulars. Karyagin finished with five points, and setter Palev added two. The most effective scorer for Fano was Giulio Pinali with 13 points, followed by Alessandro Tondo with 10.
The hosts asserted their dominance already in the first set. In the second, Karyagin helped Fano turn the score to 14:12, but a strong serving run by Michele Fedrizzi returned the initiative to Grottazzolina. At 14:17, Marco Bonitta substituted Matteo Meschiari for the Bulgarian outside hitter.

Fano reduced their deficit after a 25:18 win in the third set, but failed to reach a tie-break. Setter Riccardo Mancini ended the match with an ace for 25:19.
Tommaso Guzzo led the winners with 22 points. Oreste Cavuto added 15 and was chosen as the most valuable player, while Fedrizzi finished with 12.
After the victory over Gioia del Colle at the start, Fano remains with three points. On November 1st at 18:30 Bulgarian time, the team will host Pineto.
