Manuel Zlatanov received an exceptionally high evaluation from Piacenza's setter Paolo Porro after his impressive debut as a starter in the Italian SuperLega.
In the show "After Hours – La SuperLega di Notte", hosted by Andrea Zorzi and Andrea Brogioni, Porro did not spare superlatives for the 18-year-old receiver, son of Hristo Zlatanov and grandson of the legend Dimitar Zlatanov.
"I was sure he would do well. I see him every day in the gym. He works extremely hard and is a great kid. He seems much more mature for his age both in behavior and physically. Genetics don't lie - he's just like his father. Technically, he's a real monster for his age," said the Italian setter.
His words come after Piacenza's 3:0 (25:19, 25:21, 25:16) away victory against Padua in the first round of the championship on October 18. Zlatanov started for the first time as a starter in a SuperLega match and finished with 14 points and 50% attack efficiency. The young receiver was only one point shy of the most effective player in the match, Alessandro Bovolenata, who scored 15. Paolo Porro was chosen as the most valuable player.
