VC Neftochimic 2010's starting opposite, Rafał Faryna, will miss the Bulgarian Men's Volleyball Cup tournament, the team's club website announced. The 30-year-old Pole underwent surgery today after being urgently admitted to the hospital yesterday morning, on New Year's Day. For now, it is certain that the 200-centimeter Faryna will not be able to participate in the national trophy tournament, which VC Neftochimic 2010 is co-hosting with the National Volleyball League in "Arena Burgas".
Ivan Stanev's team starts against Lokomotiv Avia (Plovdiv) in the quarterfinals on Friday, January 10. The tournament runs until Sunday, January 12.
It is not excluded that, depending on the recovery period, Faryna may also miss the remainder of the season in the elite volleyball championship.
